    South Florida slaughterhouse under scrutiny after video emerges showing alleged animal abuse

    MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A federal agency is looking into a disturbing, graphic video taken by an animal rights group. The group is ARM, or Animal Recovery Mission, and it is saying that the footage appears to show an extreme case of animal cruelty at a South Florida slaughterhouse. The group said the video, which was shot while undercover at Matadero Cabrera, Mary’s Ranch in 2019, documents the improper slaughter of captive animals.     Donna man charged with animal cruelty

    Nieto A 46-year-old Donna man is facing a charge of animal cruelty after a woman bought four Shih Tzus from him that were severely neglected and required medical attention. The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office arrested Luis Adalberto Nieto last Friday and charged him with animal cruelty. The investigation began on Sept. 14 when a deputy was dispatched to north of Mile 11 1/2 north on FM 493 and then west to the 1900 block of Laurel Court, according to a probable cause affidavit. The reporting party told the deputy she bought four Shih Tzus from Nieto that looked severely neglected

    Animal adoptions increase during coronavirus pandemic in Larimer County

    This year has been difficult for so many non-profits, and Cape Coral Animal Shelter has had its share of challenges.  After years of preparation for opening day on March 19th, the entire world shut down just a few days later.     Woman arrested after officials find dead animals in home

    A Connecticut woman turned herself in after police discover a gruesome menagerie of over two dozed dead and abused animals in her home. After Donna Scirocco’s neighbors complained of a putrid stench coming from her home, animal control officers were granted a search warrant. Police Capt. Ronald Smith confirmed to FOXLA that officials found 26 cats, six dogs, two caged squirrels and a blind owl. Additionally, there were two large rats, two dead cats and a dead woodchuck. Health officials condemned the property, Smith said. Scirocco, 59, posted a $5,000 bond and was ordered to appear in court Feb. 5.
