Both races are 1 1/8 miles. A 7-year-old son of English Channel  owned by his breeder Calumet Farm, Channel Cat is a six-time winner and millionaire who captured the May 8 Man o’ War

    Dog lost for four months found alive on snowy hillside, reunited with owner

    Rodriguez was on a camping trip in the Lake Tahoe area with four of his friends and his 3-year-old pitbull-mix, Russ. Russ ran away in late August after getting startled by someone, Rodriguez told CNN. He and his friends spent hours looking for Russ and called local shelters to report him missing. The Caldor Fire was responsible for destroying nearly 1,000 structures, including homes and businesses.     New bill takes look at cat holding period at Kaua‘i Humane Society

    LIHU‘E — In 2021, about 90% of microchipped cats held at the Kaua‘i Humane Society were picked up by their owners in five days or less. KHS is currently required by county law to hold microchipped cats for nine days. However, that may soon change. A new bill being introduced at the Kaua‘i County Council today seeks to shorten that to five days.     Hempfield woman accused of leaving dog, cat behind in abandoned home

    A Hempfield woman is accused of leaving a dog and cat in an abandoned home, according to court papers. Michele Ann Kelly, 36, was charged this week with two counts of animal cruelty. Troopers said they were notified Nov. 12 by a home health nurse working in the township neighborhood off Route 30 that there were pets left behind in a Magee Drive home after the Kelly family left. The house appeared to be abandoned, police said, and they could smell animal feces, urine and trash from the outside. A German shepherd and cat were found inside. Troopers said a
