Fresh, all-natural pet store Pet Wants is now open in the south side of Sioux Falls.
What was once a pop-up location has now moved over to 85th Street and Minnesota Avenue, offering a store with two dog wash areas and a full assortment of natural pet food products.
Pet Wants, a Minneapolis-based franchise, offers plenty of all-natural, organic and even herbal and essential oils products for dogs and cats at the Sioux Falls store. It also delivers locally.
“All of our products contain no corn, no preservatives, no dyes — all the things that tend to make dogs sensitive,” franchisee Melissa Brandner-Otten said. “We’re ready to go.”
Located at 7740 S. Dakota Hawk Ave. near Walmart and Aldi, the store is in a region of Sioux Falls that is “growing like crazy,” and was a prime area for that area of the city’s first all-natural pet foods store, Brandner-Otten said.
After delaying opening for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the store is ready to accept pets and their owners in its doors with two full-time and two part-time staff.
The store stocks a variety of well-known brands, essential oils, CBD and local offerings like Broken Bone treats and other products. It even carries unique items like pig snouts, 95% rabbit treats and more. It does not carry rawhide, known to be dangerous to dogs, but a rawhide-similar treat made from all-natural ingredients.
Then there’s the dog wash, which has shampoo, a wash in a stainless-steel sink, a dryer and more. All the ingredients included in the wash are natural, Brandner-Otten said, and washes will range around $15.
Pet Wants expects customers from the neighborhood, Tea and surrounding areas to visit often, along with pet owners who may stop in for dog washes or to pick up a favorite bag of treats.
“I’m most excited about making new relationships with customers and not them and their pet,” store manager Madison Rietz said.
Pet Wants is open seven days a week, including Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday until 8 p.m. and Sundays noon to 5 p.m.
