Portage pet rescues thankful for ‘Betty White Challenge’

Portage County animal rescue groups are thankful that Betty White was a friend of animals, and that her fans are inspired to make donations in honor of what would have been her 100th birthday.

Chalan Lowry, executive director of the Portage APL, said some donations are coming in already in honor of the legendary actress.

“Honestly it makes me happy as a fan, and on behalf of the APL, that animal shelters across the country may see some additional funding because of Betty White’s love for animals,” she said. “We are glad any time attention is drawn to the important work we do for animals and people in our community so I think it’s great. I love the idea and hope it helps many animals in need. I think that would make Betty happy.”
