    Vandergrift women accused of cruelty to animals, abandoning cats at shelter

    A Vandergrift woman and her daughter each face 33 animal cruelty and neglect charges after a state humane officer accused them of improperly caring for 11 cats and then abandoning them at a shelter. Callie Jo McCluskey, 51, and Katherine McCluskey, 18, of 37th Street, each were charged with 11 counts of cruelty to animals, 11 counts of failing to provide shelter and 11 counts of failing to provide food and water. They face preliminary hearings on the charges before District Judge James Andring on Feb. 23. State humane officer Christina O’Donnell said she began investigating the pair after receiving

    Zap man sentenced for animal cruelty | Agriculture news

    A Zap man accused of denying water access and feeding moldy hay to animals in his care after authorities said they found a number of dead horses on his property has been sentenced to three months in jail and ordered to make restitution to the animal owner. Shanan Weigum on Monday pleaded guilty to felony animal cruelty, court records show. A charge of misdemeanor livestock running at large was dismissed. South Central District Judge Cynthia Feland suspended all but three months of a three-year prison sentence and allowed Weigum credit for 10 days served. She also ordered him to pay

    TN kennel owner charged with animal cruelty

    HARDEMAN COUNTY, Tenn. — A woman has been charged with 23 counts relating to animal cruelty after deputies found numerous dogs at a kennel in unhealthy conditions. The kennel, located near Hornsby, Tennessee on Powell Chapel Road, was raided earlier this week by deputies after pet owners contacted police about not being able to contact the kennel owner, Amanda Klapp. Deputies said when they came to investigate, they found numerous dogs in unsanitary conditions. Several of them were starved, and one dog was found dead in a cage. Deputies also found another dead dog buried on the property. Man reportedly

    Dog Set on Fire in ‘Sickening’ Act of Animal Cruelty

    Police in DeKalb County, Georgia, have issued an appeal for information that could lead to the arrest of an individual who set a dog on fire in shocking case of animal cruelty. The authorities told WSB-TV that a tan-and-cream Labradoodle was discovered “engulfed in flames” on Lindsey Drive in Decatur on Sunday morning. Several witnesses came to the aid of the dog before contacting the authorities.     Three black cats burned during suspected animal cruelty in Norfolk

    *Warning: Some pictures above may be disturbing to some NORFOLK, Va – Three black cats were found with severe burns on 41st street in Highland Park in Norfolk. A local rescue organization, Feral Affairs Network, found the cats and helped get them medical attention.     MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police said a Memphis man has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty after a video showed him picking up a dog by the neck and throwing it into a wooden fence.     Animal Cruelty Suspect Escapes Jail Sentence: Gets Lifetime Ban On Owning Pets: Prosecutor Says

    Over objections from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, a 30 year-old woman from Toms River will not get any jail time on an animal cruelty charge in which three dogs died.  Instead, Alyssa DeStefano was sentenced on Friday to 60 hours of community service, probation and a lifetime ban on owning animals, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer. DeStefano was sentenced by the Superior Court Judge Rochelle Gizinski to a two- year term of probation as a result of a previously entered guilty plea in July to animal cruelty, the prosecutor said.
