    Hempfield woman accused of leaving dog, cat behind in abandoned home

    A Hempfield woman is accused of leaving a dog and cat in an abandoned home, according to court papers. Michele Ann Kelly, 36, was charged this week with two counts of animal cruelty. Troopers said they were notified Nov. 12 by a home health nurse working in the township neighborhood off Route 30 that there were pets left behind in a Magee Drive home after the Kelly family left. The house appeared to be abandoned, police said, and they could smell animal feces, urine and trash from the outside. A German shepherd and cat were found inside. Troopers said a

    Fire forces people, dog from Kalamazoo home

    KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — A Kalamazoo public safety officer is being credited for spotting a fire that forced people from their home. Around 2:30 a.m. on New Year’s Day, the officer noticed smoke coming from the eaves of a home on March Street near Washington Avenue. Officers evacuated everyone inside, including a dog. Crews found the fire in the attic and quickly put it out. Investigators say the damage appeared to be limited to the attic and second floor of the home. No one was injured in the fire.     Cops Save Mom, Daughter and Cat From Home Inferno

    The police department in Austin, Texas, has nominated several officers for medals after the officers rescued a woman and her daughter from a fire at an apartment complex on Dec. 11. Video posted online by the Austin Police Department shows officers reach a 10-year-old girl trapped on a balcony and fire officials using a ladder to help her mother down, as smoke billows and flames fly into the sky from the building.     Wolfgang the overweight beagle drops 61 lbs. and finds home

    Extreme Makeover: Dog Edition. A once-obese beagle named Wolfgang got an early start on his New Year’s Eve resolution by getting healthy, making the necessary lifestyle changes and losing over 60 pounds. The doggo weighed 90 pounds in 2019 when he was first fostered by lawyer Erin McManis and her husband Chad Schatz. Now he weighs 29 pounds.
