    Rescuers seek leads on N.J. dog fighting ring after discovery of severely injured ‘bait dogs’

    Animal rescuers in southern New Jersey say they’re concerned there’s a dogfighting ring operating in the Cumberland County area after two pit bulls were found with similar severe injuries, including infected bite wounds and broken bones. One of the rescued dogs was so badly hurt, he lost much of his face and ultimately died of his injuries on Friday despite efforts by doctors at an animal hospital. The week before Thanksgiving, a good Samaritan found an injured pit bull, later named Peaches, in the Vineland area. She was found along with a dead dog and another that wasn’t injured as

    Dog leads Alaska hiker to human remains believed to be missing man’s

    The body of a missing Alaska man who disappeared more than a month ago was believed found on Sunday when a hiker chasing after their dog stumbled upon human remains along a trail, authorities said. The hiker, whom police did not name, was hiking on the Flume Trail near Juneau when their dog ran off, the Juneau Police Department said in a news release. The hiker followed the dog about 100 yards up the hill from the trail and found the remains believed to be of 32-year-old Douglas Farnsworth.     Dispute over animal feed leads to arson arrest

    A squabble between a mother and her son ended with her arrest for burning down their house. Tammy Renee South, 51, is charged with First Degree Arson for Tuesday’s House fire on County Road 94 in Lauderdale County. Court records show South was sitting in a swing while firefighters were on the scene when an investigator arrived. Court records show South admitted to setting the house on fire after being upset with her son who refused to go get dog food or chicken feed and that they were starving her.     Social media video showing possible killing of Chihuahua leads to arrest of Riverside man for animal cruelty

    A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty after police investigated a social media post showing the possible killing of a dog, officials said. Riverside police provided this booking photo of Angel Ramos on Feb. 14, 2021. Authorities received a call around 7:45 p.m. Saturday regarding an online video posted on social media depicting the possible killing of a dog, the Riverside Police Department said in a news release Sunday. The video allegedly showed a small dog suffering from a large laceration to its neck and gasping for air “as a young man stood over it making comments
