    Rock Springs rescue says goodbye to second big cat

    MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – A tearful post from the Wisconsin Big Cat Rescue delivered the news that a cub the staff was fighting to save did not make it. The loss was the second time this week the Rock Springs-based center had to say goodbye to one of its cats. A Facebook post earlier this week explained the cub was born with a birth defect, a Diaphragmatic hernia, which is caused by a hole in the diaphragm. At the time, staff were trying to raise the thousands of dollars needed to perform a surgery that may save little big cat’s

    New Kensington cat rescue ‘swimming in kittens,’ seeking donations for their care

    A New Kensington cat rescue is asking for help caring for nearly three dozen kittens it has taken in recently. “We’re swimming in kittens,” said Rachelle Ebel, assistant clinic manager at Frankie’s Friends Cat Rescue. The 34 kittens were among 75 cats at the Fifth Avenue clinic Tuesday. The rescue is at full capacity, having filled its last open cage Monday, Ebel said. “Usually ‘kitten season’ is slowing down,” she said. “Unfortunately, I guess because of the weather, it’s not slowed down at all.” While some cats will be ready to be adopted soon, the kittens are too young or

    SHERIDAN, Colo. (KDVR) — Puppy adoptions were through the roof during the pandemic, but now the exact opposite is happening. Animal rescues are seeing record numbers of dogs being returned.   MAMCO, short for Moms and Mutts, fosters pregnant and nursing dogs, along with their puppies. The rescue said they are experiencing an alarming rate of adoption returns. “We’re at 163 returns right now, most of them, the majority of them has been dogs that were adopted in 2020,” MAMCO Executive Director Aron Jones said. Students will have closed campus during lunch at Aurora Public Schools Jones and her staff
